Some tips for how you and your CAT exam study buddy can work together.
Set an Agenda for your CAT exam study session
Decide the length of your session and what CAT topics you will cover. Be realistic while doing this & set aside time for special purposes:
• At the beginning: Allot five minutes for important CAT info.
• At the end: Reviewing your session and the CAT sections covered will help you solidify what you learned and what you need to work on.
Use Your CAT Preparation Time Well
Here are some things to do to help each other understand the material:
• Explain to each other, CAT topics you know and those you don’t know.
• Discuss with each other interesting CAT questions and find the best solutions
• Make connections between what CAT concepts you have just learned and what concepts you knew
Adapt to Each Other’s Learning Styles
This will help you max the benefits of combined CAT preparation.
• If you learn by seeing: As a visual learner, you might have trouble learning by ear. Take diligent notes on CAT questions & concepts. When your study buddy makes an interesting point about the CAT paper, etc, write it down.
• If you learn by hearing: Dictate what you want to say in the CAT topic you are studying. It’s important that your partner write down exactly what you say.
Your role as a Study Partner
Keep up with your CAT assignments. Your partner relies on your opinions and interpretations for his/her CAT exam performance. It’s important to realize that your ground work is as important as your partner’s work.
Speaking up when it’s your turn will let your partner know what you need and what will be your role in your combined CAT test preparation.
